Bible Verses for Every Occasion

May 28, 2019 | by The Salvation Army

In a season of joy? Struggling? Praying hard for big change? Wherever you're at, we hope at least one of these Bible verses will speak truth into your life.

When a huge opportunity is within reach: Esther 4:14

When you stand on the precipice of your biggest dreams, it's easy for fear to creep in and drag you down. This verse is the perfect reminder that this moment just might be a pivotal moment in God's plan for your life.

When you're hurting: Psalm 137:3

It's impossible to go through life without feeling pain. Psalm 137:3 reminds us that God brings supernatural healing to us when we are in pain or feeling brokenhearted.

When you feel called: 1 Peter 4:10

Do people compliment you on your hospitality every time you host dinner? Are you an excellent golfer? Do people frequently come to you for advice? Whether your gift feels incredible or insignificant, whether you've known your gift for decades or just discovered it, God is calling you to use your unique gifts for good.

When you mess up...again: 2 Corinthians 5:17

We all fall back into old habits sometimes. That's where grace comes in. Remember, in Christ we are made new and washed clean.

When you're living in darkness: Isaiah 58:10

There is pain and darkness all around us. Even in the Bay Area, where we are innovating and creating faster than ever before, we are surrounded by homelessness, addiction, hunger, and a thirst for something more. God calls us to serve those in trouble and be a light in the darkness.

When you can't see your purpose: Ephesians 2:10

On the days when you feel small or wonder whether there is a greater purpose in life, turn to this verse and be reminded that the creator of the universe made you. You are unique, important, and special. You were made to do good works.

When you're keeping up with the Joneses: Proverbs 14:30

This proverb isn't just talking about spiritual health. When you're stressed and anxious, it takes a toll on your physical body. Instead, remember your identity and worth is found within God, not in the job you work or the car you drive. Check out our list of tips for being more grateful to feel happier and healthier.

When you're prioritizing: 1 Corinthians 13:2

This verse lays it out pretty clearly: love is essential.

When you need a reason to celebrate: Jeremiah 31:3

In our world, love is messy and hard. But God's love for us is everlasting, unending, never failing.

When you're waiting: James 5:7

It's so tough to be stranded in a period of indecision or discomfort while waiting for an answer. This verse reminds us to wait patiently with the knowledge that our reward is well worth the wait.

When you feel hopeless: Hosea 6:3

It's easy to get so caught up in the day-to-day activities that we forget this life is temporary. That there is an eternal promise that's waiting for us, if we just choose to accept the gift.
