Help Feed Hungry Kids: Now Accepting 2018 Holiday Food Donations

Oct 16, 2018 | by The Salvation Army

Many low-income families rely on free breakfast and lunch school programs to feed their children. In fact, in the Santa Clara County School District, more than 50 percent of students are eligible to receive meals for a free or reduced price.

During the holidays, many of these children miss meals and go hungry. For other families, the holidays means soaring food costs that make it hard to budget for other bills and payments.

To support local families and ensure that no child goes hungry this holiday season, we’re collecting food donations at our San Jose Family Services Center.

We are accepting the following food items now through December 14, 2018.

  • Pancake mix
  • Syrup
  • Cereal (Kinds that kids love)
  • Cheese
  • Tortillas
  • Ground beef
  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Spaghetti Noodles
  • Mac and Cheese (Family Size)
  • Hot Dogs
  • Condiments
  • Canned Soup and Pasta
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Baking Ingredients
  • Jam, Jelly & Nutella
  • Lunch Meat
  • Stuffing Mix*
  • Cranberry Sauce*
  • Chicken Broth*
  • Turkeys*
  • Chickens*

*These items are only accepted through November.

Please bring donations to the Food Pantry at the back parking lot of our building at 359 N. 4th Street in San Jose. Donations are accepted Monday - Friday during business hours. For more info, contact Cindy at (415) 515-7983.
