I am very thankful for the services The Salvation Army has brought into my life. Having the opportunity to live at the Emmanuel House for 2 years and 7 months has opened my eyes to new experiences. What I enjoyed the most was meeting new people and the bonding that followed afterward; it felt like one big family. I’ll remember the delicious home-cooked meals in the evenings and the kindness of the staff. Anonymous Client
With a growing homeless population in Santa Clara County and throughout the Bay Area, the Emmanuel House serves an important need in our community. Here are some of the services we provide:
Since our doors first opened in 1967, our kitchen has prepared hot meals for anyone who comes to us hungry. Men, women, and children of any age are welcome to eat a free nutritious breakfast or dinner Monday through Saturday. Breakfast is served from 7:15 am - 8:00 am and dinner is served from 5:15 pm - 6:00 pm.
The Emmanuel House provides overnight housing services 365 days a year to men. Clients can line up for overnight beds at 3:30 pm, intake occurs at 4:00 pm. You must be in person to sign up for a bed. After taking a shower and stowing baggage in a locked room for the night, each man receives a bed assignment, blanket, pillow, and sheets. Bedding is stripped and laundered each morning.
Our kitchen serves dinner to overnighters, Monday through Saturday at 4:30 pm, as well as a continental breakfast starting at 6:00 am.
Transitional Housing is a short-term residency program of up to two years for men who have income.
