Although Santa Clara County has the highest median household income of all Bay Area counties, 30 percent of families and 65 percent of single mothers are considered below poverty by the California Self-Sufficiency Standard (SSS), which includes the costs of basic needs for California’s working families. In fact, in Santa Clara County, the top-income families earn almost 16.4 times more than low-income families, and twenty percent of children across the Bay Area currently live in poverty.

If you need rental, deposit, or mortgage assistance, you can call 408.282.1165 ext 3210 on Monday mornings beginning at 8:00 am to set up an appointment for an interview. Due to high demand, interview appointments are usually filled by 10:00 am. Interview appointments are made by speaking directly to a staff member when you call. The staff member taking your call can only make your interview appointment, not determine if you will qualify for assistance. Interview appointments are booked 2-3 weeks from the time of your call. If the interview appointments are full, you will need to try again the following Monday. Interview appointments are to determine if you will qualify to apply for assistance. For deposit assistance, you must secure the housing you are moving into prior to your interview appointment. If your housing is not secured, the interview appointment will be cancelled.
The walk-up Food Pantry is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The entrance is at 359 N. 4th Street. Households may receive assistance once per week. On your first visit, you need to show a photo ID, proof of address, and complete an intake form.
